The composition of the jury of the XXII International Television Competition for Young Musicians "Nutcracker", which will be held in Moscow from November 29 to December 6 this year, has become known. It will be traditionally professionals — eminent teachers and musicians — to decide which of the young musicians deserves to be considered the best in their specialty.

Every year the Nutcracker competition opens up new names and gives an opportunity for talented children from Russia and other countries to declare themselves. This is a chance not only to demonstrate their skills to the audience in the hall and on the TV screen, but also to listen to the expert advice of outstanding masters – members of the jury, who evaluate the performances of the contestants.

Members of the panel of judges this year are:

STRINGS:

Zakhar Bron (Russia/Germany) – People's Artist of the RF, violinist, teacher. Professor at the Cologne University of Music and The Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. The Zakhar Bron Academy operates in Interlaken, where master classes for young violinists are held.

Viktor Tretyakov (Russia) – People's Artist of the USSR, Professor of the Moscow State Conservatory and the Cologne University of Music, laureate of numerous awards.

Gilad Karni (Israel/Switzerland) – Principal Violist of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, laureate of the First Prize of the Lionel Tertis Viola International Competition (1994), the Third Prize of the ARD in Munich.


PIANO:

Elena Bashkirova (Russia/Germany) is a pianist, founder and artistic director of many musical projects, including the International Chamber Music Festivals in Jerusalem and Berlin ("Intonations" Festival).

George Vatchnadze (Georgia/USA) is a laureate of numerous International Piano Competitions. Nowadays he is an associate professor at the DePaul University School of Music (Chicago). He is also a founder and artistic director of the Villa Sandra International Piano Academy in Lesa (Lago Maggiore) in Italy.

Mikhail Voskresensky (Russia) — People's Artist of Russia, Head of the Piano Department of the Moscow Conservatory, President of the International Scriabinsky Society. As a pianist, he has recorded over 60 discs released by major music companies.
