Vladimir Putin personally, as required by law, filed to the Central Election Commission the documents required for the nomination as a candidate for the presidential election in 2018. The CEC working group staff received the documents package from the President. On the eve, the voters meeting supported Vladimir Putin’s self-nomination. Previously, United Russia, Just Russia, and the Civil Platform parties declared their support for Putin's candidacy. And today, the same was done at their congresses by the Patriots of Russia and Rodina parties.

Pavel Zarubin reporting from the Central Election Commission.

President Putin came to the Central Election Commission as a potential presidential candidate. The law requires documents to be filed in person, there can be no exceptions.

- Passport?

- We always start with the passport.

- Please.

At this point, Putin sees a huge scoreboard with a countdown to the moment when the first polling stations for the presidential election in Russia will open in Chukotka and Kamchatka.

- It's all in hours and in minutes.

- Yes, we have 80 days left until the election day. This is for the Far East, not for Moscow.

Putin brought an impressively big folder with various certificates, including a proof of employment.

- So, you submitted a statement of consent to run for President of the Russian Federation, information about your income, property, and expenses, a copy of Vladimir Vladimirovich's passport, a copy of the education certificate, a certificate of employment.

As Putin will participate in the election as a self-nominated candidate, he needs to file to the CEC documents from the action group that gathered the day before. Therefore, its representative, professor, honored lawyer of Russia, Sergey Kabyshev, came together with Putin.

- Everything's under control.

- Yes, I know.

This weighty pile consists of the same documents that the action group for Putin’s nomination handed to the Central Election Commission.

- This work was done yesterday. A seal, a signature, and a notary legalization. 676 sheets.

The same documents were also sent electronically. The flash drive was put in an envelope. The entire procedure for filing documents took 6 minutes.

- We leave one copy for ourselves and give one copy to you. Your documents were accepted, thank you. We wish you success in the coming year.

- Thank you. I want to wish you success too!

Now, not more than within 5 days, the documents should be checked. The Central Election Commission will send 14 inquiries to 12 different departments. The CEC doesn’t plan to have any days off.
