DMITRI BASHKIROV (Russia–Spain) is a Russian pianist and piano teacher. He is the Grand Prix winner of the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris (1955). Dmitri Bashkirov has performed with a number of famous orchestras conducted by Kurt Masur, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Igor Markevitch, Daniel Baremboim and others. He is a Professor at the Moscow Conservatory, at the Queen Sofía College of Music in Madrid and at the International Piano Foundation at Lake Como, Italy. Dmitri Bashkirov gives masterclasses all around the world and has been a Jury member of the most prestigious international piano contests such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel-Aviv, contests in Leeds, Santander and others.
Dmitri Bashkirov is a People's Artist of the Russia. He is a Honorary Doctor of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, a holder of the special Robert Schumann medal, as well as the Honorary Medal of the Autonomous University in Madrid.
