ALEXANDER YAKOVLEV is a graduate of the Rostov Conservatory and postgraduate piano class (Prof. Sergei Osipenko), studied composition in the class of Prof. Leonid Klinichev. After graduating from the Conservatory, he studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg under Prof. Alexei Lyubimov and at The Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Pascal Devoillon. The musician is the winner of more than 50 international competitions. Among them – competition named after A. Schnabel in Berlin (2004), competition in Geneva (2005), named after F. Chopin in Rome (2006), ‘Compositores de Espana’ in Madrid (2008), ‘Parnassos’ in Monterey (2010), Takamatsu competition (2010), Cincinnati competition (2012), Ettore Pozzoli international piano competition (Italy, 2013). Alexander Yakovlev performs a lot, playing in such halls as Carnegie hall in New York, Victoria hall in Geneva, Alte Oper in Frankfurt-am-Main, the Palace of Arts of Queen Sofia in Valencia, The National Palace of Barcelona, Toppan hall in Tokyo. The musician has performed with the Berlin and Tokyo Philharmonic orchestras, the Cincinnati Symphony orchestra, the Mariinsky theatre orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic; collaborated with famous conductors – Conrad van Alfen, Misha Damev, Kent Nagano, Alexander Polyanichko, Jean Bernard Pomier, Shinasku Tsutsumi; participated in the Arturo Benedetti Michelangelo Piano Festival in Italy, Mayfest in Scotland, Beethoven festival in Bonn, awarded the audience award at the festival ‘Musical Olympus’ in St. Petersburg (2016). Alexander gives masterclasses in Russia and abroad, is a guest professor in Cincinnati (USA), Takamatsu (Japan), is the Art Director of the summer Academy and the festival ‘Beyond the piano’ in Benasca (Spain), as well as the founder and inspirer of the festival ‘Grand Piano in Palace’ in St. Petersburg.
