ALEXANDER RUDIN is a People’s artist of Russia, State prize winner, Moscow government prize winner and Moscow Music Conservatory’s professor. Since 1988 he has been working as art director and main conductor of Musica Viva, Moscow chamber orchestra. Since 2020 he is a chief conductor of the Saratov Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Alexander graduated from the Russian Academy of Music in 1983, classes of Lev Evgrafov (cello) and Yury Ponizovkin (piano). In 1989 he finished his studies at Moscow Music Conservatory, class of Dmitry Kitaenko (conducting). Already at that time he became a prize winner of the most respected international competitions: Johann Sebastian Bach International Competition in Leipzig (1976), Gaspar Cassado International Violoncello Competition in Florence (1979), Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow (1978 and 1972). Alexander Rudin, a world-renowned cellist, conductor, pianist, brilliant ensemble player, teacher, old music scores explorer, author of orchestra arrangements for chamber pieces, thematic cycles complier, is one of the most prominent representatives of Russian modern music art. His repertoire has no limits and includes pieces for cello from four hundred years, both best known and never played before. Due to Alexander’s passion for forgotten pages of the music history music fans all over the world have heard many previously unknown pieces for the first time.
