Not Just Missiles: Putin’s Speech Also Revealed Breakthroughs in Healthcare and Metallurgy Tech

Putin's speech about the brand-new missiles that are immune to the US missile shields is being analyzed word by word. A lot of developments that the President mentioned aren't just a military industrial breakthrough, but a civic one, as well, for instance, for healthcare and metallurgy.
Anton Podkovenko covers the topic.
Transfer of technologies from the military industry into the civic one is already happening. For example, the new generation lasers tested by the government 3 years ago. In the Soviet Union, they worked on lasers as a response to the US SDI program, to neutralize US satellites. In the 1990s, the work was cut off and renewed again in the 2000s. Upon the orders of the Ministry of Defense, research labs have worked on the project together to create new generation lasers.
Sergey Garnov, RAS member-corr.: "Recently, more perfect laser systems have been created, using new physical concepts. They've already been tested, ready for exploitation, and sent to the troops. These laser systems will be successfully used, since they are significantly better than modern weapon systems, with the ability of instant delivery of power to the target, and an unlimited ammo storage".
Initiation of processes in the lasers, high-precision target location and adaptive optics are results of Russian research. In Samara, they make protection for planes and helicopters from ground-to-air missiles, which interrupts their homing guidance systems, also based on laser devices. That was for the defense. This is a development from the Troitsk State Research Center, Triniti.
Sergey Gvozdev, Triniti research worker: "We have object range focusing along with angular focusing between 3 shafts, which are then brought into one shaft. Then, it's time for the severing of mountings, concrete structures, the complex is intended for emergency severing".
The mobile laser technological complex can cut through rubble, like mountings, in case of fire on gas wells. There are no analogues anywhere in the world. The complex has already been used in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, where an accident occurred in a large deposit location. 240,000 steelwork items got dismounted. The beam cut through steel like a hot knife cuts through butter.
New generation lasers are used in healthcare to treat kidney stone disease. The Moscow General Physics Institute RAS has such an installation.
David Kochiev, AGM of the General Physics Institute RAS: "These lasers gave second wind to the treatment. A specific set of technological parameters of this beam, as compared to other methods, allows a safer and more effective destruction of these concrements inside the body. There's almost no place, where this instrument can't go".
In Obninsk, they make more durable metal details, using lasers and special machinery. This is also a know-how. Russian scientists aren't big on loud words, all the while closely watching their foreign colleagues, since the science world is very tight. The West also works on lasers but turns out, we're ahead of them.
