Dmitry Medvedev: Russia’s Economy Can Handle Anything the West Can Throw at It

- Do you think there'll be a new round of sanctions? For there are quite frightening rumors about a secret list, or some new sanctions can be imposed. What are your personal opinion and expectations? Is this a topic of some unofficial discussions?

Dmitry Medvedev: We have no expectations. I don't think we'll have to wait long. They are free to do whatever they want. We're not the ones to be worried. We're ready to face any decisions. In the past two years, Russian economy has proven that it can cope with very serious challenges, including with sanctions and limitations in supplies and finance. If they publish some new lists or announce something, nothing will really change.

It doesn't mean we don't monitor the situation. We're getting ready. For example, now there's a special bank that will serve the defense industry, among other things. We need it not to get caught off guard. Overall, I don't see any big threats to our economy, much less for our citizens.
