Trump’s new strategy is a bigger problem for America itself. Although for us, it’s also a challenge, a topic on which we’ll have to think a lot and consider many things.

As for American encroachments on peace, they’re incompatible with the aspirations of absolutely every single person on this planet, who are glad to have someone who can be a counterweight to America.

Dmitry Petrov will talk about what our military response can be.

This is the command post of the Main Missile Attack Warning Center. All operational information comes here and is displayed on this huge monitor. But the information is secret, so it’s off.

And here's what we can shoot and show. This display panel shows the situation in space. Here you can see everything that flies over the Northern Hemisphere in near-Earth orbit, several hundred satellites. But if a missile is launched, it’ll be shown immediately.

Now, Russia is covered from all directions. After putting seven Voronezh radars of a new generation on combat duty, a radar field that provides full coverage was created along the border perimeter for the first time.

Vladimir Barabaskin: "Now initiating a training exercise in the use of the facilities of the Main Missile Attack Warning Center".

- That is, we see everything that is launched and flies anywhere in the world, right?

Vladimir Barabaskin, Duty Forces Commander:

- Right, the first echelon is in space. And the second echelon is 6000 away from the border.

The anti-missile defense system is in operation farther from there. Current A-235 long-range anti-ballistic missile systems can destroy enemy ballistic missiles at altitudes of up to two thousand kilometers. In the near future, the newest anti-aircraft missile system, the S-500, will be deployed.

Igor Korotchenko, military expert: "The system is mobile, it can be quickly transferred from one battleground to another, and thus the maneuvering of forces and means will create an effective missile defense grouping, including of a strategic class, wherever the security interests of the Russian Federation require".

Our retaliatory answer would follow without delay. Moreover, experts say that the existing potential would give an aggressor an unacceptable level of devastation.

And this is our menacing missile system, the R-36M Voevoda. It’s been in use for more than 40 years, but many of its characteristics remain unsurpassed. This is about the throw-weight, the number of warheads, and their total power. But the most important thing is the ability to overcome any missile defense systems. A hit from the R-36M is impossible to evade. It was its use that made it possible to implement the principle of a guaranteed retaliatory strike.

This is a classroom. The rocket hall was located in the new building of the Strategic Missile Force Academy in Balashikha. A real museum of intercontinental ballistic missiles. It was opened quite recently. The President is here for the first time. New buildings for the Academy of Strategic Missile Forces were built in record time, in just 8 months. This is a whole scientific town. It’s quite logical that the expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry Board, during which the results of the year are usually summarized, was decided to be held here. But first, the President thanked the military for fighting in Syria.

Vladimir Putin: "In fighting international terrorism, an absolutely global threat, our soldiers, and officers acted bravely, professionally and, most importantly, effectively. They made, without any doubt or exaggeration, the decisive contribution to defeating the most capable group of international terrorists. The actions of our army and navy can only be described as excellent. We’ll always remember the feat of our comrades-in-arms who perished defending Russia and our people".

The main topic of the meeting is building and developing the armed forces. The world is undergoing a revolution in economics and technology. Such profound transformations will definitely affect the military sphere.

Vladimir Putin: "We must closely monitor changes in the global balance of power and the military-political situation, primarily near Russia’s borders, as well as in strategically important regions that have key significance for our security. This also concerns the Middle East, the Korean Peninsula where a high potential for conflicts persists, as well as Europe, where NATO and the United States continue to rapidly build up their infrastructure".

Russia is building its strategic nuclear forces in the light of these realities. Upgrading is underway, as RT-2PM Topol missiles are retired in favor of RS-24 Yars missiles. 12 rocket regiments have already been equipped with them. The testing cycle for the new RS-26 Rubezh ballistic missile system is coming to an end. It'll be equipped with controlled combat units.

Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s Defense Minister: "In 2018, the Defense Ministry is to add 11 launchers carrying Yars ballistic missiles to the Strategic Missile Forces. In addition to that, six modernized strategic missile carriers are to be commissioned. To add to the fleet, the main nuclear submarine, designated Project 955A — the Knyaz Vladimir, a Bulava ballistic missile carrying submarine, has been introduced into the Navy."

America has been suffering from mood swings lately. And how else can we describe the desire to break the 1987 Agreement on the Elimination of Medium-Range and Short-Range Missiles?

Ruslan Pukhov, Director for the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies: "The Americans use shock-free unmanned aerial vehicles, which actually fit the description of the means that are prohibited from use under the treaty. The second violation of this treaty is the use of missile targets that fully fit the description of those means that are prohibited from development".

The deployment of a missile defense system in Romania and Poland can also be attributed here. All these cross-functional launchers can be loaded not with anti-missiles but with sea-based cruise missiles. But the Americans have no monopoly on cruise missiles now. Our high-precision 3M-54 Kalibr competes with their Tomahawk. It repeatedly confirmed its high efficiency in Syria. The first launch from the Caspian Sea. October 2015. With complete precision, they hit terrorist targets in three countries. Pilots also learned how to use new weapons.

Yevgeny Buzhinsky, military expert: "Take the air-launched cruise missiles, the Kh-101, and Kh-102 — their range is even greater, about 4000 kilometers. We already demonstrated their launches from a Tupolev Tu-95. Americans and our NATO partners, in general, realized that the Russian Armed Forces didn’t just take a small step forward, but one giant leap forward."

Now, the designers are working on the creation of operational-tactical missiles, including anti-ship ones of a hypersonic class. This is a fundamentally new type of weapon.

And the Strategic Missile Force Academy has already presented weapons that have already been delivered to the troops, starting with Ratnik-3 combat systems for motorized infantry units, training complexes for airborne troops, and military equipment of engineering units.

Military officer: "We programmed these boots to withstand at least 75 grams of TNT. We’re now conducting tests, and they’re withstanding 30. We’re continuing our work".

And here are unmanned aerial vehicles. This industry requires special attention. In the 1990s, these programs were canceled. And the Americans, the Israelis, and the Chinese continued to move forward.

Yevgeny Buzhinsky: "There are several structural elements in the Rostekh Corporation that deal exclusively with unmanned vehicles. I think we’ll catch up".

Igor Korotchenko: "Our investments in the defense industry, in the Army and the Navy are the insurance policy that Russia will have in the 21st century so that no one can encroach on its security".

This insurance policy is called the State Program of Armaments. It’ll last until 2027. The main priorities are hypersonic and high-precision weapons.
